Annually, since 2009, Chapman University's Tap Ensemble (CUTE) has put on a show to showcase the work and art of our campus's tap dancers, along with special guest performers from all around the country, as is the tradition in American tap dance. In 2022, Chapman University/Musco Center for the Arts produced Chapman’s first-ever tap festival, Tap Fest California. The festival included CUTE’s Happy Chappy Tappy Show. Due to an incredible response from the tap community, in 2023, CUTE took on the task to continue the festival in a smaller, more intimate setting. Thus, Tap Fest Cali was born…and last year’s inaugural festival was a huge success, bringing together rhythm dancers from around the world to share their art with our campus and local community.
Tap dance is primarily an African American art form and brings cultural diversity to Chapman; CUTE works to preserve and educate the public on its value in the scheme of American dance. We hope you enjoy this fun, inclusive, affordable festival that has become CUTE’s most popular fundraiser each year.
