Ladies in the Shoe

Now in its 7th year, the “Ladies in the Shoe” Tap Conference returns to 92nd Street Y, as both a featured part of the 2026 Uptown Rhythm Dance Festival and co-presenter alongside Works & Process at the Guggenheim.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the “Ladies in the Shoe” Tap Conference honors the legacy and artistry of accomplished female tap dancers and influential ambassadors of the form. Created and directed by award-winning tap dancer Dormeshia, this event includes 2 days of classes, discussions, a Tap Jam/Dance Party, and 2 live performances featuring Demi Remick, Claudia Rahardjinoto, Amanda Castro, Josette Wiggan, and Brenda Bufalino. Designed for intermediate and advanced tap dancers, the conference celebrates, inspires, and empowers women in tap dance to continue to thrive within the tap community and beyond.

Video Submissions Are Back!
We will be accepting submissions for the live shows. Once again we’re spotlighting original work by female choreographers—bold voices, fresh ideas, and commitment to advancing the art form while honoring its traditions. Selected dancers will have the opportunity to perform live and celebrate the legacy of women in tap.
