The RAC Tap Dance Marathon is a multi-day celebration honoring the rich legacy, lineage, and evolving tradition of tap dance in observance of National Tap Dance Day. Bringing together an extraordinary faculty of master artists, innovators, and cultural torchbearers, the marathon offers a rare opportunity to study, exchange, and build community across generations of the form.
Join us for four days of immersive classes, musicality, improvisation, rhythm exploration, and shared celebration with some of the most influential voices in tap dance today. Whether deepening your practice or reconnecting with the community, this gathering is an invitation to honor the roots and share the joy of the art form while dancing its future forward.
But the week’s events don’t stop here! Make sure to watch what promises to be a truly legendary show at the Joyce Theater celebrating the 25th anniversary of Tony Waag’s Tap City, running 5/18 – 5/24, and Tap Dance Day shows hosted by Melissa Almaguer at the Jazz Gallery at 7&9p. Several of the artists performing will also be featured as teachers in our programming, so make sure to catch them on the stage and in the studio.
